Milwaukee / Grand / Halsted
River West / Fulton River District
The closest six-way to the Loop.

The main attractions of this formerly industrial area turning residential include the restaurant Thyme, nightclub The Funky Buddha Lounge, neighborhood pub Emmit’s Irish Pub & Eatery, and party supply and rental store Doolin’s.

Milwaukee Avenue terminates just a couple blocks away at the Blommer Chocolate Company factory, founded in 1939 and still one of the largest chocolate manufacturers in the country. It is also the source of one of the Chicago’s most controversial odors, as machines churn out cheap chocolate products around the clock. The Environmental Protection Agency cited the company for opacity violations in September, 2005.
